Trevor Lawrence 2021 NFL Draft Profile

Overview

Trevor Lawrence is a junior out of Clemson. Lawrence began his collegiate career as a true freshman, starting in all 15 games of the 2018 season. On top of having an amazing statistical season as a true freshman, Lawrence would also lead Clemson to a dominating win over Alabama for the National Championship. It was then that the media, and all the other doubters, realized the hype behind Lawrence was for real.

After three years of starting at Clemson, Lawrence has accumulated numerous awards and statistical records. In 2020 alone, he led the ACC in every major statistical category for the quarterback position. This includes passing yards, completion percentage, passing touchdowns, passer efficiency rating and many more. Lawrence also set the Clemson record for most wins as a starting quarterback. Not since John Elway has a quarterback prospect been more destined to succeed in the NFL. The only thing that might come between him and greatness is his thin frame. Lawrence does not really slide to avoid contact, so he could develop some lingering soft tissue injuries and bone bruises after taking continuous hits from NFL players. He will need to learn how to slide properly to avoid becoming an injury plagued player that never reached his Hall of Fame potential.

Bottom Line on Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence has been in the spotlight since before he took his first snap with Clemson. He was the #1 recruit coming out of high school and has exceed expectations. Some say that he is the best prospect since Andrew Luck, but those people are incorrect. Lawrence is a better prospect than Luck was. You have to go back to John Elway to find someone as destined to be great, coming out of college, as Trevor Lawrence. He is the sure thing is the draft. You can go as far to say that the chances of Lawrence busting are less than 0.01%. Every year the phrase “generational talent” is thrown around by the media, seemingly not fully understanding what the word “generational” means. Lawrence is it though. He is the true generational talent that every NFL owner prays for.

Barring a catastrophic disaster, Lawrence will be drafted first overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. New head coach Urban Meyer has not been shy about his infatuation with the former Clemson quarterback. Rightfully so too, as the Jaguars have the first pick in the draft and thus have no reason to blow smoke at anyone. Some people will try to make a name for themselves by going against the grain and picking Zach Wilson as the top quarterback in this draft. Do not overthink this one, Jacksonville; take Trevor Lawrence. By doing so, you will catapult your franchise out of obscurity and into relevancy.
