A New Jersey groom was arrested at his own wedding after he allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage waitress who was working at the reception.
As CBS Philly reports that Matthew Aimers and his wife were celebrating their big day at the Northampton Valley Country Club.
According to the criminal complaint, police say it was during the reception that Aimers, 32, approached the young waitress and “asked her to go outside.”
From there, Aimers told the waitress that they “can do whatever [she] wants.” As the complaint claims, the waitress denied the groom’s advances, saying “she was working.”
Later that night, after being told to check the women’s restroom to make sure it had enough supplies, Aimers reportedly followed the waitress.
After following the teen into the bathroom, the groom reportedly grabbed her arm, dragging her into a stall, and locking it behind them.
That’s when Aimers allegedly began kissing the teen and assaulting her as he tried to unbutton her pants.
The waitress was able to push the groom’s hands away from her, telling him his advances were “not welcome,” and was able to walk out of the room.
31-year-old Matthew Aimers is accused of sexually assaulting a worker in the bathroom at his own wedding reception last November in Richboro, Bucks County. He’d previously been arrested for trying to fight a cop that night.
As CBS Philly reports, during the assault Aimers allegedly said, “Can you kiss me like you mean it?” and “I’ll give you a hundred dollars.”
Authorities were notified about the alleged sexual assault after a brawl broke out during the reception. Aimers allegedly punched one of the waitress’ coworkers when he asked Aimers not to take alcohol outside.
According to VT, the groom reportedly ran from the responding officers and jumped onto a nearby shuttle before he was apprehended.
Aimers was arrested and is now facing charges of false imprisonment of a minor, corruption of minors, indecent assault, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
The groom’s attorney, Louis Busico, said in a statement that his client “absolutely denies all charges”:
“[Aimers] maintains his innocence, and he looks forward to clearing his name when this is all concluded.”
It’s unclear if Aimers and his wife are still married.
According to the Bucks County Courier Times, Aimers was released on bail after “a woman” paid 10-percent of the $100,000.
