Daycare Teacher Seen Walking In Rain, Mom Shocked At What She’s Holding

In Louisiana, the mother of a two-year-old girl saw her daughter’s daycare teacher walking down along the side of a rural road. Considering the weather, it seemed like an unusual time to take a Sunday stroll, only to be made more shocking when she saw what the woman was holding.

Brittney Nichols was running around the small town of Benton one Sunday, when her daughter’s daycare was closed. She didn’t expect to see the center’s teacher, Christy Owens. As she headed down the road, she saw a woman walking in the distance before getting closer and realizing it was the person she entrusts her young child to each week day.

According to KSLA, Nichols noticed that Owens was clutching her Bible, as she walked alone that morning. She was headed to church on foot, regardless of the weather which couldn’t stop her. That’s when it hit Nichols that she’s seen Owens walking around town a lot, as her only way of getting to every place she needed to go. What she didn’t know was why she didn’t drive, and she was shocked when she found out.

With nothing but love and respect for the woman who cares for her child, Nichols’ heart immediately sank at the sight of this dedicated woman walking with her Bible in hand, just as she’s done every Sunday before it. “Christy is always so amazingly happy and kind.

She treats the children as if they are her own. They all love her as do we the parents,” Nichols said. Seeing this woman roadside in the rain was followed by an overwhelming feeling of what she felt she was being led to do.

The mother learned that the teacher had never owned a car and didn’t even have a driver’s license. She couldn’t afford either, but rather than complain about it, she just walked everywhere, rain or shine, and always with a joyful demeanor.

Nichols only found this out after she said God spoke within her to ask Owens about her transportation. Knowing was one thing, but doing something about it was entirely different. Tight on funds herself, Nichols couldn’t just buy this woman a car and solve her problems, as much as she wanted to do that after everything Owens has done for her daughter.

“Christy is always so amazingly happy and kind. She treats the children as if they are her own. They all love her as do we the parents,” she explained. However, the feeling inside her to do something about it persisted, so she acted in faith to follow through on the seed she said God planted in her.

With the help of other parents, coworkers, and even complete strangers, Nichols managed to collect enough money to not only buy Owens a car, but pay for driving school and insurance too, so she could get her license. The mother attributes the incredible blessing on having been guided by her faith to actively “make an effort” to change Owens’ life.

“For me, I’m just serving my purpose,” she explains. “And my purpose is to impact somebody.”

She fulfilled that mission in blessing this hardworking woman with an incredible gift that she was beyond grateful for. At the presentation of what had been done for her in secret, Owens burst into tears and embraced Nichols. She was overwhelmed with appreciation for her effort and the incredible realization that she hadn’t gone unnoticed, and her needs were not ignored.
