Five lanes of eastbound I-70 closed near Peoria Street for multiple-vehicle crash

The five left lanes of eastbound Interstate 70 are closed due to a multiple-vehicle crash between Havana and Peoria streets.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced the lane closure at 3:06 p.m.

“The accident happened in the middle lanes of the highway, leading to the shutdown,” said a spokesperson from the Denver Police Department. “One person was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown extent of injuries.”

The departments stated in a 6:53 p.m. tweet that the crash involved serious injuries and sent one motorcyclist to the hospital.

Police are unsure when the lanes will re-open as of 5:15 p.m. Alternate routes are advised.
