Police officials said the 27-year-old mom, later identified as Suada, reportedly punched her 3-year-old daughter in the throat before suffocating the child to death.
She was taken into custody and charged with one count second- and one count third-degree murder for the death of her daughter. The responding officers found a family member kneeling and shouting over the girl, who was lying on the living room floor.
The 3-year-old child was unresponsive and had no pulse. Court documents say the man that was leaning over the victim, Ibrahim, told police that, she killed her in reference to the girl’s mother. The mother was sitting on the couch, and when the officer asked her what happened, she told him that she had killed the girl, according to a criminal complaint cited by CBS News.
