Prosecutors said the defendant, Ureka, was sentenced to life in a state correctional facility without the possibility of parole for throwing her two young children, 5-year-old and 10-month-old, off a bridge.
The 10-month-old boy, Joshua, died and her 5-year-old son, Elijah, was severely injured. The 34-year-old mother was found guilty of murder and attempted murder.
District Judge Donald also ordered the mother to serve a sentence of 50 years for the attempted murder charge, with the sentences to be served simultaneously. Prosecutors said that during the trial the mother didn’t testify. Read the full story here ▶
