Parents are Jailed and a Great Aunt Is Fighting for Custody After 3-Month-Old Is Treated for Broken Bones

A 3-month-old baby girl is fighting for her life after suffering child maltreatment at the hands of her parents, say police.

According to WVLT, Addilyn was neglected and abused to the “brink of death” when her father Michael Fisher, 30, and Brooklyn Tidwell, age 27, brought her to Southern Tennessee Regional Medical Center in Nashville.

Police discovered child abuse when the little girl was treated for multiple broken bones and internal organ and brain damage. She’s currently in critical condition after being put in a medically-induced coma to stop the bleeding on her brain, reports WZTV.

The little girl, who was born prematurely weighed about four pounds at birth, currently weighs eight pounds. Her family said she’s already suffered so much in her short little life and they’re working to find her a safe and loving home.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Addilyn’s great aunt Terra Woodard care for the child. Someone close to the family wrote on the page:

This baby girl deserves a loving family and a family that’s going to show her unconditional love every single day for the rest of her life and we all know she will get that from here on out.

Woodard is taking steps to gain emergency custody of the infant.

Family members claim the couple has two other children together who are in state custody. Fisher was charged with physical abuse and Tidwell with neglect. According to the affidavit, she allegedly didn’t seek medical attention for the 3-month-old.

Their hearing is set for February 7.

The baby’s uncle Matt Tidwell says that the power of prayer must be working on Addilyn’s behalf because her seizures have stopped ever since the community rallied behind the family to pray for the child’s recovery.
