Denver police are investigating a shooting on Interstate 25, and a stretch of northbound lanes near Alameda Avenue is shut down.

The shooting happened near 8th Avenue and northbound lanes are closed from Alameda to 8th, police said in a 3:17 p.m. Tuesday tweet. Drivers should avoid the area if possible, and alternate routes are advised.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said drivers should expect delays in the area because of police activity.
