According to the court documents, the 33-year-old defendant, later identified as Mayra, was found guilty to multiple charges, including: t0rture, child abuse and endangerment, enhancement of causing great bodily injury and simple assault.
Prosecutors said the stepmother reportedly t0rtured her 10-year-old stepdaughter. The poor child suffered severe injuries and needed 17 surgeries. Mayra will be sentenced on Nov. 3, 2023. The child was forced to kneel on raw rice and tin cans while holding weights over her head.
Last year, the girl’s father, Domingo, reportedly rushed his child to the hospital. The little girl, who weighed only 50 lbs, was not unresponsive. Read the full story here ▶
