Grieving son London Thomas tried to get revenge for his mother’s death while in court on Monday afternoon.
Vashon Flowers is currently on trial after being charged with his wife’s murder. As MLive reports, Flowers allegedly shot his 50-year-old wife, Jamie Thomas-Flowers, at close range inside their Muskegon Heights home during the early morning hours of May 19.
According to MLive, Flowers reportedly kicked down the door to Thomas-Flowers’ home before shooting her four times in the torso. Flowers turned himself into the local police hours later.
Muskegon Heights Police Chief Joseph E. Thomas Jr. said the shooting occurred about four hours after the couple had an argument over smoking cigarettes. Flowers was reportedly asked to leave their home and did so after packing a few items.
But when he returned:
“He kicked the hinges right off the door.”
As MLive reports, the police chief said there was a witness inside the home at the time of the shooting.
During a preliminary examination for Flowers, both he and London Thomas were present in the courtroom on June 3.
As surveillance footage captured, Thomas-Flowers’ son attempted to attack Flowers by jumping over the barrier between him and the defendant.

Thomas quickly left his chair, jumped over the short wall that separated him from Flowers and began charging at him. Officers apprehended Thomas just as he lunged at Flowers, putting him in handcuffs.
According to MLive, the following day, Muskegon County District Judge Raymond Kostrzewa held Thomas in civil contempt of court and banned the grieving son from attending any future proceedings within that courtroom.
According to ABC 13, during a vigil celebrating Thomas-Flowers’ life, her son said:
“My mom was a great woman and she supported me to the fullest. She wanted the best for me.”
Flowers has been convicted of felonies three other times, in 1995, 1996, and 2017. Now, he is being charged with open murder, which “covers first- and second-degree murder and manslaughter.”
Thomas-Flowers sister, Daphanie Thomas, told ABC 13 of her sister’s death:
“It shocked us to our core. We stand here in our sorrow and in our grief for our sister that was brutally taken from us way, way too early.”
