Woman Panics After Unexpectedly Giving Birth at Work. An Amazon Janitor Finds Her Dead Baby in the Trash Can

New details have emerged concerning a dead newborn girl who was found at an Amazon facility last week.

According to court documents obtained by the Arizona Republic, at around 8:30 p.m. a janitor was making rounds at the Lower Buckeye Road location in Phoenix.

While taking out the trash in a women’s bathroom, he noticed that one of the bags felt “heavier than usual.” The worker looked in the trash bag and made a shocking discovery.

He saw the head of an unresponsive newborn inside.

Just hours before, a female employee left the facility’s restroom after she had unexpectedly given birth at work.

AZFamily reports that Samantha Vivier, 22, clocked out for lunch at 11:30 a.m. and delivered her baby inside a bathroom stall sometime after that.

During the interrogation, Vivier told police that she didn’t know she was pregnant. She said she had gained 15 pounds but didn’t notice any other pregnancy-related symptoms until she went to use the restroom.

In the stall, she said she began to bleed and gave birth. She’s confident that the full-term baby was stillborn because the child wasn’t breathing.

Vivier claims that she threw the baby in the garbage to hide the birth from the child’s father. A coworker helped the 22-year-old wipe up the blood with paper towels and gave her a ride home.

On Tuesday, Vivier was apprehended on suspicion of unlawful disposal of human remains. However, prosecutors recommended she be released.

Vivier told police that she “panicked” and was “confident” the newborn was born dead and made no attempt to revive her or contact emergency dispatchers.

Meanwhile, Amazon released a statement following the arrest, calling the incident “terribly sad and tragic.”

The investigation remains open until medical examiners determine the exact cause of death.
