95-Yr-Old Vet Makes A Strange Request To Cops. When They Arrive, Their Hearts Break

Julius Hatley is a 95-year-old WWII veteran that lives alone in Fort Worth, Texas. The temperatures soared to over 95 degrees, and Hatley’s trusty AC unit broke (both the central AC and his window unit went on the blink)! Still, Hatley would go outside and do yard work and then try to cool off on his porch, but when things got too hot, he called for help. The 911 dispatcher put the call as ‘low priority’ because it isn’t really a police emergency to fix the AC.

The officers finally arrived at Hatley’s and found him sitting on his porch covered in sweat – their hearts broke. It was 8:30 AM and already near 90 degrees, Officer William Margolis said he knew he had to help Hatley somehow. Margolis and his partner, Christopher Weir, chipped in together and got Hatley a new AC unit!

The pair had gone to Home Depot to make their purchase and asked an employee for help picking the best unit. Once word got out that the officers were buying the unit for a retired veteran, they decided to chip in and help too!

The Home Depot team contributed $150 out of their own pockets to help a complete stranger! Officer Steven Rebrovich helped Margolis and Weir install the new AC unit.

Hatley couldn’t help but smile when the officers returned! A local AC company heard the story and offered to work on Hatley’s central air unit for free!

The officers have done other things to help out Hatley – like buy groceries and paint windows!
