Baby Who Miraculously Survived Teen Mom’s Brutal Murder Dies Weeks After Being Cut From Her Womb

A family spokesperson confirmed Friday morning that the baby of murdered Chicago teen Marlen Ochoa-Lopez has died weeks after being cut from his mother’s womb.

As previously reported by Dearly, baby Yovanny Jadiel Lopez was miraculously breathing on his own weeks after being cut from Ochoa-Lopez’s with a butcher knife last month.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Julie Contreras said:

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of baby Yovanny Jadiel Lopez. He passed away this morning Friday June 14, 2021 from his severe brain injury.

The boy’s family and their pastor were earnestly praying for his full recovery after the child suffered severe brain damage during the tragedy.

Ochoa-Lopez’s family hadn’t left the child’s side for weeks following the incident. The baby had been in intensive care since he was brutally taken from his mom.

The family said their hearts are completely broken, and they asked for the public’s thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.

The statement goes on to say they plan to keep the baby’s funeral private.

On Facebook, the family’s spokesperson said they’re seeking justice for baby Yovanny Lopez and his mother, who was found in a garbage can behind a house last month.

The slain teen’s alleged killers were indicted.

Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and her 24-year-old daughter, Desiree Figueroa, as well as Clarisa Figueroa’s boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, are behind bars for Ochoa-Lopez’s murder.

The 19-year-old was killed when she went to a home to get free baby clothes. The defendants are due back in court on June 26.
