There has never been a time throughout all of history quite like today. We have more rules and regulations on our lives than ever before. And now a daycare worker is revealing why they never allow a parent to drop off a sleeping baby. It’s not because the child will eventually wake up and find itself in a foreign environment. It’s not because the child will cry; it’s because of the vile thing one grandmother did to a sleeping infant that left the daycare workers scrambling to save the baby’s life.
So what happens? When a parent or a grandparent brings a sleeping baby to daycare, workers know they have to be on the lookout for signs of abuse. Often, a parent or caretaker will abuse a baby then load it up with sleeping pills to make it sleep, so no know realizes the pain the baby is in. Hopefully, this crime is not as prevalent as on Reddit user indicated in their story.
Why do caretakers abuse the baby and then put it to sleep with drugs? It’s simple really. When the parent comes to pick the child up later, they can blame the abuse on the daycare worker. Fortunately, professional childcare professionals recognize the trick and are hard at work stopping people from putting little ones at risk.
The revelation was first posted on Reddit about three months ago in the middle of a post about people lying. The story went viral, and the anonymous poster’s words were picked up by other sites including Bored Panda and Imgur. Here’s what the former babysitter and daycare worker wrote:
“I worked daycare and was told to never accept babies sleeping in car seats or sleeping children at all. So if Mom or Dad brought a kid asleep, I immediately woke them up and pulled them out of their car seat. This made so many parents displeased with me, but it’s policy.”
The former daycare worker then went on to describe just how dangerous it is for a childcare professional to accept a sleeping baby from an adult.
“I used to think it was to help the kid be on a schedule. Then one day a grandma brought a baby asleep, and he was not waking up at all. Just would raise his head, whimper, and go back to sleep. Immediately, my boss dialed 911 and grandma was trying to downplay. ‘He had a rough night. He’s just tired.’ I knew this baby. He wouldn’t sleep if he thought he was going to miss out. We had music playing and kids loudly singing and dancing. In the chaos, grandma slipped out, and at some point, someone called the parents.”
The truth was hard.
“Turns out granny had a history of giving kids stuff to knock them out when she babysat, but this time she did it to a 6-month-old, and that’s why he wouldn’t wake up. I think they pumped the kid’s stomach and he had a stay at the hospital.”
