Gina Carano, 38, was fired from her acting job on Disney’s The Mandalorian after she posted to social media about how American conservatives are suffering as badly as the Jews during the Holocaust. Lucasfilm confirmed on Wednesday that Carano has lost her job and would no longer appear in the show’s cast due to her offensive comments regarding Holocaust survivors – and now the former M.M.A. fighter is out of work.
Carano shocked social media users when she compared the mass murder of Jews during Hitler’s Holocaust to America’s divisive political climate. This was not acceptable behavior for someone employed by Disney+ or Lucasfilm.
“Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable,” Lucasfilm wrote in their statement.
Because of her social media posts, Carano has also lost her spot at talent agency U.T.A. They dropped her after she posted the offensive content as well.
Carano has lost her position as the character Care Dune in the Star Wars series. Although she deleted her post as soon as she realized how offensive it was, it was too late because her fans were already appalled by her behavior and sharing the post with others on social media. Before long, Carano found herself caught up in the cancel culture as the hashtag FireGinaCarano began to trend like crazy.
Carano has also sparked controversy for her anti-mask rhetoric. She also promoted the false idea of voter fraud in the 2020 election. She also tried to insert herself into the conversation about Jeffrey Epstein’s untimely death, adding on the day that she was fired – “Jeff Epstein didn’t hill himself.”
“People need to be OK with having conversations,” she told the host. “With having difficult conversations, with having different opinions. What’s wrong with having a different opinion? Why does everybody have to straight go to demoralizing because maybe they just didn’t think the way you did?”
What do you think about her sudden demise from Disney?
