Ben Breedlove was born with an extremely rare and incurable heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. According to the Mayo Clinic, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is when the heart muscle becomes thickened, and that makes it hard for the heart to pump blood around the body.
Ben’s parents, Shawn and Deanne Breedlove, were not willing to wallow in self-pity, they instead chose to live each day they had with Ben to its fullest.
