One young boy saw a police officer hard at work and knew he needed to speak to him. Although his mother was driving, the six-year-old ordered her to stop so he could leave the car and approach the cop. When people see police officers stationed along the side of the road, they usually check their seat belts, their phone usage, and their speedometer, but few people think to do what this six-year-old boy named Jaxon Siderius did.
Seated in the back of the car where it is safest for children to sit, Jaxon saw the police officer and asked his mom to pull the family vehicle over so he could go over and speak to him.
The boy’s mother was shocked that Jaxon wanted to speak to the officer. Her son was usually so quiet and asked for so little. She had not expected him to make such a direct demand of her especially as the car was in motion.
But she could not deny her son. Besides, his request was noble, and she wanted to honor that and teach him how to respect people who put their lives on the line to protect and serve their community.
“He asked if we could turn around to pray for him,” Anna told Inside Edition.
Jaxon’s mother, Anna, pulled the car over not far from the officer’s squad car. And then she watched as her six-year-old boy, who was very shy, approach the big, tall Montana Highway Patrol officer.
Jaxon was on a mission. It wasn’t like him, but Anna was overjoyed to see her son so passionate about honoring law enforcement. Jaxon took the officer’s hand and then did something that went viral.
He started to speak a prayer for the safety of the officer. And when he was finished, the viral story was just getting started.
“At the end, I heard him say, ‘Please protect the officer and all other officers,’” Anna said. “I thought he was brave. Probably more than me.”
Jaxon’s prayer came at a time in the country, back in 2016, when violence against the police was making headlines very frequently.
Below, you can see the Inside Edition report about Jaxon and his mom.
The video begins with Jaxon sharing another wish for the police officers.
“Thank you to the police officers for protecting us,” Jaxon told the news source.
His mother was very proud of her son for having the courage to pray for the police officers and share his faith with the rest of the country in the wake of such tragedy.
Of the thousands of people who viewed the footage, hundreds left comments including the following:
“This is absolutely wonderful! He’s starting off with a healthy untainted attitude of a loving, grateful heart! I pray for God’s hand of protection on this family.”
Many people wanted to see the officer’s reaction to the boy’s appreciation. But that part of the story was not captured.
What do you think about this boy’s passion for the police and their protection?
