A mother-in-law was made to feel terrified and helpless by a vile man, and worse was the fact that he was no stranger. The 48-year-old woman was raped by her son-in-law, who was staying over at her house when he carried out the cruel act in Queensland, Australia.
The man, 38, launched a vicious attack on the woman and forced himself on her at her own home. “He then straddled her face and penetrated her mouth,” said the prosecutor, Toby Corsbie during the trial at the Brisbane District Court, as reported by Quest Newspapers, according to the Daily Mail.
Throughout the violent attack, the mother-in-law was quietly crying and pleaded with the man, over and over again, to stop but the son-in-law continued. “She was crying throughout that however remained silent due to fear,” the prosecutor said. “Once he was finished, he lay next to her and held her. She remained awake and terrified until she was able to get away and answer her phone.”
The rapist pulled out $100 from the woman’s wallet before exiting her apartment.
Authorities were informed about the incident and the man was arrested shortly after leaving his mother-in-law’s apartment. At first, he denied the occurrence of any “sexual activity” but later in court, he pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and three minor crimes.
Dominic Nguyen, the lawyer defending the rapist, said that nothing can excuse the horrific crimes but mentioned that his client had a marijuana and alcohol addiction problem. The lawyer also revealed that the man’s childhood included being sexually abused by a Catholic priest.
As for the woman, she has not been able to sleep properly ever since the nightmarish incident took place in October, 2019. Judge Rowan Jackson QC said in court that the man’s act had made the woman feel terrified and helpless, and sentenced him to seven-and-a-half years in prison.
The man’s identity was not revealed to protect the victim, given how they were related. And along with the short sentence, he would also be eligible to be out on parole by May, 2022.

While in police custody, the man named David Shekari allegedly said, “I raped my mother during a festival when I got drunk. I couldn’t find any old woman to rape and when I got home, I found my mother sleeping and I penetrated and raped her. My mother screamed when she saw me on top of her and our neighbors gathered. Everyone saw that I was drunk and when I became sober I begged her to forgive me and she accepted.”
David’s wife, who was obviously horrified by his behavior left him and remarried. A while later, David was caught inside the house of his ex-wife’s mother, who woke up while he was on top of her. His ex-wife’s mother screamed for help and people gathered and beat up the man who has a “penchant for raping old women.”
“I don’t know what usually comes over me when I am drunk. That spirit is what normally pushes me to rape old women,” said David, who was arrested after leaving elderly women in the area scared for their lives.
