Mother’s Sick Secret Exposed When Cops Notice What’s ‘Off’ About Toddler’s Breath

Police in Pennsylvania arrived to Sarah Germain’s home after receiving a call about her 4-year-old daughter, the mother seemed confused about what caused the problem. Her daughter was lying in the living room and acting very odd. The mother said she didn’t know why, until the truth came out with what was found on the child’s breath and in her mouth.

Germain took her time in calling police, before she finally decided that something better be done about her toddler, who was unresponsive on the floor. She knew very well what the problem was, but when police arrived, she wasn’t about to say. Although the little girl was about to lose her life, she was fearful of losing her child to authorities.

According to WHTM, as police desperately tried to revive the toddler, they repeatedly asked the mother what the girl may have ingested or been exposed to. Such information was a matter of life and death in knowing what needed to be done, but Germain continued to play dumb.

With a weak pulse and very shallow breathing, responders resorted to using Narcan to revive the child, which is a drug used to reverse the effects of strong narcotics, such as heroin. While one dose of Narcan typically does the trick on overdosing adults, it took four separate hits of it to bring the child back to consciousness.

Upon transport to the hospital, medics could tell what the child had consumed, based on the smell of her breath and the symptoms she was displaying. Blood tests later confirmed their suspicion that the child had overdosed on methadone, a frequently abused narcotic used to treat heroin and morphine addiction, which results in the same kind of lethal drug high.

When the mother was further pressed for an admission about it, she refused to fully fess up. She allegedly told authorities that her little girl had gotten into her methadone the night before. Once there was no hiding from the truth of what the child took and how much, the mother finally admitted that she was afraid to confess, since she didn’t want to be in trouble with Children and Youth Services.

This accused woman let her little girl reach the edge of death on the floor in front of her, because she was more concerned about her own outcome, than her child’s. She was afraid of the girl being taken from her, while proving exactly why she doesn’t deserve this child.

Sarah Germain has been charged with aggravated assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child, but this seems like she is being let off too easy. She allegedly let her daughter get into drugs, overdose for hours, lied about the important facts of what happened, then didn’t call for help until her little girl’s dying breath. This should result in attempted manslaughter, but hopefully she’s stays locked up for a long time.
