Texas School’s Lesson on Chivalry Asked Girls to ‘Walk Daintily’ and Obey Men

Boys have been requested to rise any time a feminine scholar or school member entered a room, to keep away from profanity or “vulgar words” and to “allow ladies to leave the room before they leave.”

Girls had to stroll behind males or “walk daintily, as if their feet were bound”; handle males with “a lowered head and a curtsy”; “clean up” after their male classmates; and “obey any reasonable request” from a person.

According to Colin Tynes Lain, 18, a senior, the trainer had anticipated backlash and stated college students who have been uncomfortable with the task may write a one-page essay as a substitute.

In the previous, Mr. Lain stated, the trainer had given mother and father and lecturers a written disclaimer explaining that the aim of the project was to present how the chivalric code was used to obscure chauvinistic rules that harmed girls.

“That’s what she was trying to pull our attention to,” he stated. “That this was not chivalry in any way.”

Still, he stated, he felt unsettled by the concept of treating college students he’s used to debating and bantering with in a demeaning manner.

“It definitely made me uncomfortable and I would say that was her goal,” Mr. Lain stated. “At the same time, I understand why certain people would be mad.”
