A 27-year-old Wichita woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her baby daughter.
Neriah Dilley made her first court appearance Thursday and was also charged with felony child abuse. She remains jailed on $250,000 bond.
Officers responded last Saturday afternoon to the report of an infant not breathing at a home in the 800 block of South Mission, near Lincoln and Woodlawn. They arrived to find Dilley’s daughter, 1-year-old My’onna Townley, in critical condition.
The baby was rushed to a hospital where she later died. Police said the girl’s injuries included “trauma on her body,” but they didn’t specify what the injuries were.
A criminal complaint alleges Dilley tortured or cruelly beat her daughter. If released on bond, she is to not have contact with anyone under the age of 18 without an authorized responsible adult present.
Dilley’s next court date was scheduled for October 28.
