Autumn Shaw and Amber Tramontana, two twin sisters from Knoxville, Tennessee, together defied the odds. Both women, who are now in their thirties, were born at the same time all those years ago. Now, they have completed something that should have been nearly impossible. The twin sisters gave birth to two newborn daughters within ninety minutes of each other on the twin sisters’ birthday.
The exciting moment occurred in East Tennessee at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center on Thursday. Autumn and Amber gave birth to Charleston and Blakely.“We wanted our kids to have the same experience that we had growing up. That’s why we wanted to have babies close together,” Tramontana told WATE. “‘But we didn’t plan that it was going to be this close together.”
Although the twin sisters wanted their daughters (who are cousins) to be as close as sisters, they could not have gotten the stars to align any closer than they did on Thursday in Knoxville. Experts assess the odds of such a birth occurring as 150,000 to one.
Dr. George Vick delivered both babies. Charleston came first but was quickly followed by Blakely less than two hours later. The two women had neighboring delivery rooms to accommodate their special births.
“It’s something that’s really an unusual thing. It was when we found out they both had the same due dates. It was just a God thing the whole way,” he told WATE.
