A young woman from Scotland caught her creepy neighbor doing something that shocked her to her bones. The middle-aged man who lived next door was spotted perched up in a tree, apparently trying to spy into the young woman’s window to get a peek of her without her clothes on. The young woman, who posts content on the Chinese-created social media platform TikTok, decided to share the video of her creepy neighbor in the tree because “people ask why my curtains are always closed.”
The video was short and sweet, but it didn’t have to be much longer to prove that the neighbor is peeping at her and trying to catch a look at her during her most intimate moments. People on TikTok were horrified for the young woman and flooded the video’s comment section with numerous suggestions of things she can do to protect herself from her desperately creepy neighbor.
Some suggestions included sharing the video with the local police to make it clear that she does not feel safe in her house with the neighbor lurking around windows as he does. Other people offered more aggressive solutions like confronting the neighbor’s wife about his peeping problem or even holding a can of “wasp spray” nearby in case he comes too close and needs a reminder to stay back. Other viewers urged the TikTok user to watch out for her safety and to stay away from the man as much as possible.
“Pretty sure this is illegal,” one user wrote.
“He’s going to get brave and come to the window. It’s just a matter of time. Be safe,” another said.
“Everyone [says] to go to the cops…They won’t do anything. They don’t care. My male [neighbor] filmed my bedroom window for a month. They did NOTHING,” she claimed in the comments of her post.
Different countries and states deal with stalkers and peeping toms differently. Although many people might think it is best to just ignore stalkers, a police psychologist who is an expert in the matter urges victims to take action quickly to prevent the situation from escalating into something that gets out of control.
Kris Mohandie, the police psychologist, spoke to CBS News about how it is important to deal with stalkers because if you don’t, they may continue to push boundaries and get closer. Mohandie suggests that it is important to avoid contact and to improve security measures at the house. You can also alert loved ones that the situation is going on. Victims of stalkers should also send police as much information as they can gather to prove that something bad is happening.
