Former presidential candidate and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D) took to Twitter on Friday to communicate a message to her “fellow Dems” advising them on how to turn things around.
“My fellow Dems: if you want people to vote for you, stop calling millions of Americans dogs—only dogs respond to ‘dog whistles’. Stop trying to divide us by the color of our skin. End your open-border policy. Treat us all with the respect we deserve as Americans & God’s children.”
This particular tweet comes in the wake of what many are calling a catastrophic loss for the Democratic party, as the Virginia governorship was taken by a Republican candidate on Tuesday. Hence, Tulsi opens up with “if you want people to vote for you.”
When she says, “stop trying to divide us by the color of our skin,” she is likely referring to a recent drive by Democrats to disseminate a Pew Research poll which does exactly that, dividing native Spanish-speakers by skin color and segmenting their experiences.
Likewise, Tulsi refers to ending the “open-border policy.” This is another current and controversial issue. In real terms, illegal migration to the US has surged since Biden took office as president.
The immigrants are arriving in Mexico from all around the world, and then trying to cross illegally in to the US, immediately turning themselves into authorities, taking advantage of the “catch and release” policy which was re-instated by the Biden administration.
