The Palo Alto Police Department is facing a global firestorm after a video went viral showing officers attempting to “digitally unplug” a terminal patient in his final hours.
The incident, which occurred Tuesday night at the Sequoia Wellness Center, was captured on a Smart-Lens stream by 42-year-old Elias Thorne. Thorne, who is in the end-stages of aggressive neuro-degenerative decay, was using an unapproved “Open-Source” patch for his neural implant to manage pain and communicate with his family.
