Interstate 25 reopens in Thornton after fatal crash is cleared

A busy stretch of northbound Interstate 25 in Thornton has reopened after a fatal auto-pedestrian crash has been cleared.

I-25 is closed in both directions from Thornton Pkwy to 104th Ave, for an extended period of time, as Thornton PD is investigating an auto/pedestrian crash. Huron St, Grant St & Washington St are alternative routes. No further details right now. Updates will be here… pic.twitter.com/ioGeON93hY

The highway was closed northbound from Thornton Parkway to 104th Avenue for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon, according to police.

Traffic was detoured to Huron, Grant and Washington streets. Drivers faced long delays and were urged by police to avoid the area if possible.

An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
